Sin Has Taken Its Toll on Mankind
“And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years”. Genesis 6:3
God said that His Spirit would not always strive with man which goes to show that man has caused God a lot of grief. Back in the very beginning, He had to deal with Adam and Eve and their disobedience, then with the murder by Cain of his brother Abel. Later, after sin had ruled nearly every person on earth, God destroyed all people except Noah and his family. However, even Noah’s family was not righteous in that the youngest son, Ham, committed sin and was cursed by God. As the world became more populated, several folks decided that they would build a tower to heaven so that they could basically become gods, but God took care of that by giving them all different languages so that they couldn’t understand one another. When God called out Abraham to leave his home and journey to where God led him, then he would become the father of a people whom God would claim as His own. Abraham took his nephew Lot with him, but strife broke out between Abraham’s and Lot’s herdsmen, and the two of them parted ways. Lot settled in Sodom, but that was a place that God had to destroy because of the wickedness that occurred there. Later on, Lot’s two daughters had sexual relations with him while he was drunk so that they could conceive and carry on the family name. However, the two sons born became fathers of enemies of Israel.
Even though God is omniscient, that is, He knows the end from the beginning and nothing takes Him by surprise, He still created man and woman, knowing that they would sin, be disobedient, and reject Him. We wonder why. I can only think that God created man because He knew that there would be some who would believe in Him, honor Him, serve Him, and worship Him. He made the way to be reconciled with sinful man through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, and He offered this forgiveness and pardon to all who would repent and place faith in Christ. When God created the world and man, He intended to have uninterrupted fellowship with His creation. That intent hasn’t changed; it’s just been delayed because of man’s sin. We are reminded that the Hebrew people were promised a land flowing with milk and honey, but it took 40 years to make a two-week journey. Thus, God didn’t change His mind about the promised land, He just had to deal with a disobedient people in the way that He saw fit.
We also wonder why God has delayed His return. This world has become so far from righteousness and godliness, that we expect Him to come any day now. I think He is delaying so that more folks can come to repentance and avoid His wrath that will come upon those who perpetrate evil and refuse to repent. He said that He gets no pleasure at all in the death of the wicked. He would rather that they turn from their wickedness and repent (Ezekiel 33:11).
I read an article today by Craige McMillan entitled, “It’s God vs. the globalists: Guess who wins?” The globalists are those who desire to replace God with their own form of rule thereby bringing all people under their control. What they fail to understand is that “they are battling the Original Creator of the heavens and the earth for control of HIS creation”. These globalists remind me of the folks who attempted to build the tower of Babel, except it is not a physical tower to heaven that they are trying to build, but more of a highway to hell even though they don’t see it that way. Referring back to Ezekiel 33:11, God doesn’t desire to destroy them, but that is the path that they are on unless they repent and trust Christ. Mr. McMillan stated, “If you doubt the outcome of this globalist war against the Creator, go through the Bible and count the number of battles God has lost.” I will save you some time. The answer is zero.
As stated earlier, God’s intention for His creation has always been a relationship with men and women. No one, not the globalists or even Satan himself, can thwart God’s plan for the world that He created. So, when you hear how we are all going to perish at the hands of those who do evil, look up, for our redemption draws near (Luke 21:28b).
