Humans Are Not That Smart
“Blessed is the man whom Thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of Thy law; That Thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.” Psalm 94:12-13
The following are some thoughts on the 94th Psalm. The writer of this Psalm is unknown, and he is leveling his complaint to God of how the wicked are winning against God’s people and how they are not respecting and revering Almighty God. Keep in mind that this Psalm was written probably over 3,000 years ago. Humans haven’t learned much.
It is God’s prerogative to take vengeance upon those who choose to not honor Him as the sovereign Ruler over mankind. It seems like the wicked are being allowed a long time to do their evil deeds. Not only do they do them, but they boast about doing them. They shake their collective fist in God’s face and harass and hurt His people. They kill the innocent (abortion), thinking God does not see them or they think even if He does see them, He does not care. How dumb are they? God made ears and eyes so He certainly knows how to use them.
If God has punished the wicked before, won’t He do so again? Since all knowledge comes from God, He possesses all knowledge. He knows what every person is thinking, and their thoughts are empty. Thank You LORD for conviction and Your law. To follow You brings rest while the enemy awaits his fate. We know that You will not leave us. Your judgment is right and fair and helps those who live by it. Who else protects us from the enemy? Is it not the LORD? Otherwise my life would have been cut off. But He has kept me from falling. The more I think about the LORD, the more I am comforted. Is it permitted for the workers of sin to carry on their evil doing regardless of Your law? They are so wicked. They condemn Your people. But You are our Defender, Protector, and You will punish them.
In Psalm 37, a Psalm of King David, he wrote that we should “Fret not thy self because of evildoers, either be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.” By the subject matter that I have chosen for this blog, you might pick up on the fact that I believe we are going into a dark time in our history. The new president said as much by referring to the “dark night”. I think he was referring to what it would be like if the opposing party was re-elected, but I believe the reference best fits his own party. The best way to decipher the words of politicians is to take what they say with a grain of salt, but be very alert to what they do. I do get a certain amount of comfort from the fact that they will only be able to do what God allows them to do. He is the sovereign Ruler, and He requires worship as the holy God of all creation. He may let those who ignore or reject Him get by for a while, but as my pastor said recently when referring to the shenanigans, lies, and ungodly actions of those in power, “They haven’t gotten away with it, yet.” Every action is recorded in heaven, and all will be held to account for their evil deeds.
There are some who believe that we have entered the period of tribulation foretold in the book of Revelation, but I don’t think we are that far along yet. My understanding is that the world situation has to be so bad that people will clamor for a world leader who will bring peace, although it will be a short-lived peace. He will then show his true colors as the monster that he will be. I think, though, that we are headed in that direction maybe sooner rather than later. God always has a way of escape for those who trust in Him. David also wrote, “For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace” (Psalm 37:9-11). There is no doubt that what goes on in places of leadership has a trickling down effect, or it could be more of a tsunami of policies that will hurt the everyday, ordinary folks. Many have been blinded by Satan to do his bidding. Those of us who are believers must continue to stand for truth and righteousness in order to not be overcome with Satan’s lies and deceptions. We must keep the faith. I may be totally off base with my fears for the next few years, but unless our nation and world returns to honor the living God, I am not hopeful, but I will continue to trust the Lord and commit my way unto Him.
