Pride Impairs Potential
“Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.” Psalm 100:3
We hear of many people who are always demanding their “rights”, feeling entitled to whatever it is that they desire or insisting that they deserve special attention. Then there are those who believe that life should be a “bed of roses” and expect only good things to happen to them, but when tragedy strikes, they don’t know where to turn. These folks and others like them, those who have based their lives on unrealistic expectations, self-centeredness, and/or a misunderstanding of the purpose for which they were created, will never realize their potential without a relationship with the God who created them.
God doesn’t put people on this earth just to take up space. Each individual has a God-appointed purpose, but the great majority of the world’s population, past, present, and future, will never fulfill their destiny for which they were created because they were too busy seeking all the worldly things they thought would satisfy them. Life without a relationship with the Lord is empty and without real purpose because God designed men and women to relate to, depend on, serve, and worship Him. Pride keeps folks from admitting their need for God, but until they do they will never experience the peace and joy that results from a right relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
