Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.” John 14:1
Every time I turn on the news, what I hear and see seems to be worse and more troubling every day. I don’t need to list all the events of the last few weeks, or even last few years, because, unless you have been living in a cave somewhere in Timbuktu (BTW, that is a real place in the French Sudan), you are more than familiar with all the world’s ongoing troubles. Folks are anxious, depressed, and frustrated. What seems like common sense solutions are practically non-existent, and the solutions that are being attempted go against the logical thinking of most, but apparently not all, Americans.
Some of the solutions that are being promoted or are actually being carried out are so completely crazy, for lack of a better word, that one might wonder if some of these policies are being done on purpose. To me, there’s no other reasonable explanation. If that’s the case, then why would those in charge carry out policies that are more harmful than helpful? We may all have our theories as to why things are being done as they are, but it’s for sure that most of the leaders are not consulting with the Lord before they make their decisions. (God can use ungodly people and their ungodly ideas to fulfill His purposes for mankind.) If we have been paying attention to what scripture tells us about the end times, then we are seeing Bible prophecy fulfilled right before our eyes. I have heard folks say that they believed that they would be alive when the final days of the earth as we know it would take place, but many of them have since passed away. (Actually, they were right because believers who have died will be resurrected, so technically they will be alive at the time of the end.) It sure seems like we may be the generation who experiences the days leading up to the seven year period of tribulation. Of course, we do not know when that will actually take place, but it sure seems that it could be sooner rather than later.
I must admit that I am pretty disgusted with the leaders who are supposed to be looking out for the American people. The good news is, though, that those of us who are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and have placed our faith in Him, need not let our hearts be troubled as Jesus said. Since He is the King of kings and Lord of lords, we can trust Him fully that He has everything under control and things are going according to God’s plan. On the one hand, it is a feeling of dread to see our great nation be diminished in the eyes of the world and to likely face more troubling days and fearful events, but, on the other hand, it is somewhat exciting to see the pages of the Bible unfold before our very eyes. We always hear on television and read on line about all the different “agendas” that politicians and leaders have, but I am much more interested in God’s agenda because it is the one that will benefit all who trust in Him.
