My How Time Flies
“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” Psalm 90:10
We know that a “score” is twenty years. According to scripture, an average life span is somewhere around 70 years. If person is healthy, attaining the age of 80 is a possibility. We know that some folks live to be over 100 years old, but that is the exception. With all of our modern medical advances, people are living longer, yet not necessarily living healthfully. I saw the byline of an article on line that said scientists were working on how to extend life to 150 years. My question is: why?
As I look back over my life, in some ways it seems like a long time, but in other ways, it seems like only a few short years since I was the age of my granddaughter. I have many happy memories of my childhood and a few that were not so happy. I always knew that my parents loved me and loved each other, and that was a great comfort to me. I heard a preacher say one time that if a child knows that his/her parents love one another, then that makes up for a lot of mistakes the parents may make in rearing their children.
As an older adult, a parent, and a grandparent, I look back over the last 50 years with a lot of good memories and some that are sad and sorrowful as well. No one ever said life was a “cakewalk”. However, if we have the love and support of our family and most of all Christ in our heart, we can find joy in even the toughest of times.
