The Next Generation
“Then said He unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.” Matthew 13:52
Jesus had just finished explaining some of His parables to His disciples and asked them if they understood what the parables were designed to teach. They said that they understood so He told them another parable to see if they truly grasped the importance of sharing their knowledge of God’s kingdom with others. Jesus compared a scribe or teacher who has received instruction about the kingdom of heaven to a man who was the head of a household and in possession of valuable items both old and new. The disciples, represented by the householder, had been traveling with Jesus for some time and had many opportunities to learn from Him. They were already familiar with the letter of the law and the old covenant that God had made with Abraham, and now they were learning more about the spirit of the law and the new covenant of grace that Jesus was teaching them. This knowledge would be necessary as they would become Jesus’ witnesses after He ascended back to the Father.
A teacher is not just one who stands before a class and imparts information and ideas. We are all teachers who are obligated to pass on the knowledge that we have gained. If we don’t teach others about the goodness of God, what He requires from His creation, the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and eternity, how will they know? Children who are not taken to Sunday School and church and whose parents are not Christians are usually lacking in spiritual knowledge. They certainly won’t learn about God in public school. The government has outlawed any type of teaching about God, the Bible, Jesus, and accountability to the Lord. I can understand that because public school is supposed to be about reading, writing, and arithmetic, and a whole host of other subjects geared to help a child succeed as an adult in being able to earn a living. I would not have wanted my children to be taught some other form of religion or cult propaganda. In this day and age, there must be diversity according to politicians. But it wasn’t always that way.
When I was in elementary school, we read the Bible, pledged allegiance to the flag, including the phrase “under God”, and sang Christian songs. Even in high school, we sang “The Hallelujah Chorus” and other Christmas songs which were about Jesus in the choral department. Many of my teachers, particularly in elementary school, were Christians. They didn’t proselytize, but they weren’t afraid to speak of their faith. I remember in the sixth grade, my teacher was a member of a Baptist church, and the teacher across the hall was a member of a Methodist church. They would get into a friendly discussion about which was better. No student in the class nor their parents objected to praying the Lord’s prayer, singing Christian songs, or celebrating Christmas. There were probably some students whose only knowledge about God came from what they learned in school.
However, things began to change as I grew a little older. By the time that I was in college, there were teachers who weren’t Christians and who had leftist ideals. I remember in biology class, the teacher was talking about evolution, and one male student spoke up and asked, “What about the Bible version?” She answered, “We’re not talking about that”. These days, if a student spoke out like that, he or she would probably be expelled. From the news reports that I have been seeing, it seems that schools are no longer institutions of learning, but rather indoctrination centers. I have been appalled at some of the things that are being foisted upon even the youngest of students. When God was eliminated from the public square, including the schools and courtrooms, He was replaced with guns, vulgarity, immorality, and a whole host of ungodly teaching, policies, and procedures.
When we begin to connect the dots of what is being promoted in this nation, particularly among the younger generation, we can see Satan’s plan coming together to influence young and old alike to separate themselves from God and follow the devil’s deceptions as he works through leaders and influencers to destroy the next generation. What other conclusion can we come to when we see how the killing of the unborn is promoted among young women, how children are being pushed to “change” their gender, going through hormones and surgeries which will prevent girls from ever being able to have babies, convincing boys to become girls, but no matter what some claim, neither will they be able to reproduce, and just lately, we have heard how the birth rate has diminished because of men’s lack of testosterone due to chemicals added to our food supply. Why are so many so dead set on eliminating the next generation? Is it population control or some other nefarious reason? Satan certainly has invaded the minds and hearts of countless folks.
Perhaps, if any of these God deniers read Psalm 78:5-7, the words written by the psalmist may have put some fear into their hearts: “For He (God) established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God; but keep His commandments”. It’s not that those in charge fear God; rather they fear those who trust in God. If the next generation is to exist and know the truth, then it is up to those of us who love God to teach the current generation.
