Thou Shalt Not Kill
“Thou shalt not kill”…”Do not kill”…”Do not kill”…”The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”. Exodus 20:13, Mark 10:19, Luke 18:20, John 10:10
There have been several more mass killings in the last few weeks. The murders were committed by mostly young adults. The news media and the current administration always blame the guns, but those who pull the triggers are the ones to blame. The news media and the government officials throw up their hands and can’t understand why these young people are taking innocent lives and usually losing theirs in the process. The answer is simple. When those in the current administration and the news media support and encourage the taking of life of the unborn child, they are teaching young people that life has very little value. What can we expect of impressionable young people when they are told that it is perfectly alright to kill a human being while still in the womb?
Not only that, but when God was removed from the school systems, the courthouses, the public square, and other places, young people are taught that God and living righteously aren’t all that important. When they are not only taught but encouraged to attempt to change their gender, they become even more confused than teenagers normally do with hormonal changes, which makes them no longer a child, but not yet an adult. The statistics tell us that the suicide rate among teenagers is at an all-time high.
I suspect that in the next few weeks and months, we will hear of more mass killings because the ones perpetrating these horrible crimes are given so much attention on the news that other young people who are having all sorts of mental issues, depression, anger, or have little godly influence in their lives see themselves as getting some kind of glory from using a gun or a knife and taking the lives of others. Most of the time, though, they also lose their lives. It could be that some of these young people are desiring to die and decide that this will bring them some notoriety, sort of a suicide by cop. If they only understood what awaits them the moment that they take their last breath. If they believe that there is a hell, they likely think they will be some sort of hero there, but they will find out that Satan will see them as an intruder into his domain. He won’t exactly roll out the welcome mat.
Churches have gotten to the point to where they don’t preach about hell very much. That offends people. It is true that if hell is all that is preached, people will turn them off, but people need to be told the truth. Hell is a fact. Everyone who has not repented of sin and placed faith in Jesus Christ will go there for all eternity when they die. Scripture is clear about that. Some folks say that God will not send anyone to hell because He is a God of love. God doesn’t send anyone to hell. Folks go there because they didn’t believe what God said to avoid hell and didn’t follow through in the plan of salvation.
Until our nation and our world turn to the Lord, repent of our sins, and trust Him to save us and give us the abundant life that He has promised, we will continue to slide further down into the depths of depravity. Folks, both true Christians and cultural Christians, those who claim to believe in Jesus but haven’t truly given their lives to Him, desire for God to bless America, but why should He? Until we bless God and give Him the honor and reverence that He deserves, we need not look for things to get any better any time soon.
I don’t know what it will take to wake people up. There has been plenty of evidence that America is under judgment, but there are only a few of us who recognize that fact. If there is any hope, it must begin with those of us who love Jesus and have made Him our Lord. If we try to alert folks to the dangers of living unto themselves, give them the life-saving gospel, and they refuse to listen, then that’s on them.
