“They’re With Me”
“All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37
In the corporate, political, and entertainment worlds, people say that it’s not what you know but who you know that opens doors into these organizations. Along this line, I have seen television programs that portray a scene of a popular nightclub where there is a long line of patrons waiting to get inside. Buildings have fire codes that only allow a certain number of occupants to be in the building at any given time. A guard, called a “bouncer” stands at the entrance of one of these establishments, and no one gets past him until he allows them entrance. He is usually a big dude with whom no one wants to tangle. I am sure that most of you have seen a similar scene on television.
However, there is usually, in these shows or movies, a celebrity or some popular person who will be admitted just because of who is or she is. They have a connection to the club owners or their celebrity status affords them special treatment. The celebrity’s entourage, those friends who accompany him or her, will also be admitted ahead of the line just because they are in the company of this popular person.
While there is absolutely no comparison between heaven, God’s glorious home and that of a smoke-filled, noisy nightclub, one thing is similar: just as one has to know the right person in order to enter certain establishments, you must know the One who has the right connection in heaven–Jesus Christ. There are many people, including celebrities, who believe there are “many paths to God”, but there is only One who died for our sins in order to reconcile us to the Father. Jesus clearly stated in John 14:6 that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one could come unto the Father except through Him. When true believers stand before God, Jesus will say, “It’s O.K. Father, they’re with Me.”
